Using recycled materials, transform security envelopes and a cardboard box to create a truly original book showcasing your painting, collage and book-making techniques. Security envelopes with glassine windows become wonderful mini-canvases to paint and collage. We will then create a book with five pages to hold and display all five envelopes.
FOR COVERS:
•Book board or cardboard for the front & back covers (Book board: Two pieces 4.5 inches wide x 11 inches high + for the spine 2.5 inches wide x 11 inches high OR a flat cardboard box measuring 17.5 w x 11 inches high; allows for two 3-inch flaps to fold into the interior)
• Acrylic paint/decorative paper/scrap papers + collage ephemera
• Tools for mark-making—brushes, sponges, pencils, etc.
• If using book board:: Book cloth (approximately 13 inches high x 4 inches wide)
• PVA glue and brush/glue stick
• Self-healing mat and X-acto knife
• Scissors
• Bone folder
• Scrap paper (to cover work surface when gluing)
FOR ENVELOPES:

• Acrylic paint + collage ephemera, including but not limited to: Stamps, small images, clip art, rubber stamps, torn paper, bits of type, pages from old books, labels, ribbon, hand or machine stitching, small scraps of paper, etc.
• Scrap book binding thread, ribbon, twine, etc.
• PVA glue or glue stick
FOR INTERIOR OF BOOK:
