Piano Hinge bindings allow for traditional folio structures and are ideal for varied display options. Accordions can additionally fold out from the spine, allowing the view to be circular or star-shaped. After learning the basics of how piano hinges can be made with bamboo skewers (or any long cylinder--stick, pencil, toothpick), we will explore ways the binding can be put to use for an artist's vision.
Tools pencil, ruler, X-acto, cutting mat (or scissors if preferred)
Materials: paper (20 - 80 lb), glue or double-sided tape, bamboo skewers
