Come and play with us on a cold winter day! Monoprints are one-of-a-kind prints made by creating an image on a Plexiglas plate with inks or pastels, then putting the plate through a printing press to imprint the image onto dampened paper. (A ghost image will remain on the plate if you want to re-paint the image more easily for a second print.) Work in your own style, from detailed drawings to loose or expressive marks or patterns.
The resulting print has a unique painterly quality with that distinctive embossed edge. This fun and easy-to-learn process does not require fine drawing or painting skills! The use of clear Plexiglas enables the artist to work directly from a reference photo or design!
All materials will be provided; students should bring some rough sketches, or other design inspiration or a 4” x 6” printed photo to work from.
