Learn to use colored pulp to create individual artworks, and to make designed and editioned papers in the paper studio. Our fiber for coloring will be abaca, and a cotton/abaca mix will be used to make base sheets of paper in different ways. We’ll start the workshop by combining pigments together with abaca pulp, creating our palette of colors.
To edition papers with colored pulps, we’ll cut stencils to guide painted shapes or designs. The resulting papers will be editioned, using several colors if you wish. Your small edition of 4-5 sheets can become broadsides, book pages, or prints to complete in the future.
The hands-on process of painting with colored pulps in a floating mould is a very different set of techniques to learn. These one-of-a-kind paintings can contain imagery or abstract forms and are intriguing to make, for “non-artists” and “artists” alike.
