In this two-day workshop, we'll alter, arrange, and layer a variety of papers into unique and textured mixed media collage. After a brief review of the basics, we'll smear, splatter, and glaze papers with inks, acrylics, gesso, and pastes. With mark-making tools, such as charcoal, crayon, and gel pens, we'll add detail and accents as finishing touches. The collages can then be combined into a simple concertina or pamphlet-style book with a tin or decorative box to hold them. Although all materials will be provided, participants are encouraged to brainstorm possible themes and/or color palettes prior to the workshop and to bring any materials they might enjoy using in their art.
