Learn more about designs and patterns of Celtic art and try them yourself to create a small art piece or card for St. Patrick’s Day or another event! We will use pencils and grid paper to draw some interlaced knotwork patterns and other designs typical of medieval manuscripts.
You will then transfer your pencil designs onto art paper to create a one-word banner, decorated capital letter, and/or Celtic knot design. Get as creative and elaborate with your designs as you want in the time allowed, but there will be plenty of traceable designs and simple foam stamps for less experienced participants to successfully complete a small gift or card design.
This class pairs well with the Celtic Calligraphy workshop for incorporating a short greeting or verse to your designs.
Supplies are provided, but if you have the following, you may want to bring your own: Pencil, eraser, and fine-point markers such as Pigma Micron or Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens. Translucent marker paper or tracing paper.
Optional: white gel pen, metallic markers.
Teens/Adults, all levels
