Author: Alan Stephens
Alan Stephens (1925-2009) was the author of many collections of poetry including Tree Meditations and Others(Swallow Press, 1970), White River Poems (Ohio University Press, 1975), In Plain Air (Swallow Press, 1982), and The White Boat and Some Other Poems (Buckner Press, 1996), in which Two Women in the Middle Distance was originally printed. He taught for many years in the Literature program at the College of Creative Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara.

This book was produced at the Kalamazoo Book Arts Center using handset Bembo type printed on Flurry cotton paper with a Vandercook Universal III press. The paper for the cover was made by hand by Tom Balbo and Jeff Abshear at the Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio. The linocuts were designed by Jeff Abshear. Printed in an edition of 100 copies (25 Hard coverr casebound, books 75 soft folded paper cover).
