Stephanie Milanowski is a graphic designer, illustrator, letterpress printer, book artist, and entrepreneur. She turned her RISD senior thesis project, “Save Me Lunch Bags”—a series of educational lunch bags for children featuring endangered species—into a global product.

From owning her own business to working at Herman Miller and later earning a graduate degree, Stephanie continued her competitive and creative pursuits. She has taught and lectured graphic design at the college level and writes and illustrates children’s books, including her picture book “The World’s Smallest Letterpress Shop: a not-so-ordinary day!”. She has also illustrated books for HarperCollins, McGraw‑Hill, and Cricket Media, and has designed hundreds of book jackets and covers for best-selling authors, publishers, and university presses nationwide.

After learning the art of letterpress and bookmaking at RISD, Stephanie’s recognition as a book artist grew when she hand-bound 1,200 books for Oprah Winfrey and other distinguished clients, including Max De Pree. Her artists’ books have been distributed by Printed Matter, Inc., and her design work has received numerous honors, including awards from the Printing Industries of America and the Mohawk Paper Company International Design Competition.

Stephanie works every day in her shop, The World’s Smallest Letterpress Shop, with her three best.
