KBAC Gallery
Opening reception Nov. 1 during Art Hop, 6 to 9 p.m.
Adriane Little is a lens-based artist whose work has been exhibited in over 100 national and international exhibitions and video screening venues including the Three Rivers Film Festival, the Leeds International Film Festival, Real Art Ways, CEPA Gallery, the Institute of Culture, Trbovlje Slovenia, The Center for Photography at Woodstock, the Beijing B.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, and the Chelsea Art Museum in NYC. Her new body of work, to be exhibited in the KBAC gallery, turns to literature as a source of visualization in an investigation of ritual and trauma through the presence and absence of the maternal body. She says, “Here ritual is functioning as a singular and private act; under the burden of grief and trauma embedded within instinct, or what I call the matrilineal ghost.” Little is an Assistant Professor in the Gwen Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University, and is represented by Peak Gallery in Toronto.
