KBAC Gallery
Opening reception Sept 10, 6–9 p.m. during Art Hop
John Kollig, the first KBAC Resident Artist for 2010, has been working in our studio since January to create a series of printed images.
Kollig received his MFA in painting from Western Michigan University and has exhibited his work widely in Michigan. In 2009 he was invited to participate in the Seventh Annual Biennale of Art in Florence, Italy.
About this new work Kollig says:
“The images, all appropriated, are used in combinations of monotype, transfer, collage, and drawing. The process of using mixed media was through intuition and random selection. Nothing was planned. The only criteria for choosing an image were my personal taste and aesthetic. The whole series was worked simultaneously. There is no narrative or context for this work that I was consciously thinking.”
