Mandalas are considered by some to be a microcosm of the universe. While this sounds a bit overwhelming, in fact, the repetitive elements in the circles are quite calming to create and admire. In this 3-part class you’ll make several beautiful mandalas in an unusual way. In week one you’ll learn how to make decorative monoprints using a Gelli plate. Week two will be about creating the basic mandala shape by cutting and collaging those prints into pleasant circular patterns. In the final week, you’ll use pens, inks, markers and paints to put the critical finishing details in place. The entire process is relaxing and unhurried reminding us all to live in the moment.
