Japanese Books with Haiku
Make decorative papers for the covers of a traditionally sewn Japanese book and write a haiku.
Printing on Jello®? Yep! Using stamps, stencils and acrylic paints you’ll use solid unflavored gelatin as a printing plate and make amazing decorative papers. This doesn’t require a printing press and can easily be done at home after you learn the basics.
Have fun creating easy block prints from drawings made on foam plates that are inked and pressed on colorful paper. You can use these printed images to make greeting cards or decorate your room!
Using paintbrushes, we’ll apply colorful inks to the surface of water where they will float freely and swirl around each other. Paper will then be placed on the water and quickly peeled back, revealing a marble-printed paper.
A star book looks like it is impossible to create but it’s really easy once you know the trick. You’ll amaze your friends and family when you tell them that you’ve actually made it yourself. And, the star book will contain a short story that you’ll write while you’re here.
